The work of Justice Lab is changing.

The work of Justice Lab is changing while the Legal Education Foundation (LEF) considers how best to take forward the mission underpinning the Lab as an integrated part of the Foundation’s wider grant making.

Justice Lab as a vehicle will cease in its current form but the resources and reports it has produced will continue to be accessible and available online.

LEF established Justice Lab in 2018 following an expert review that identified the need for better use of data and research in the justice system. The initiative was created and led by Dr Natalie Byrom and has played a significant role in helping to develop a digital strategy for HM Courts & Tribunal Service, a publicly accessible repository of court judgements at the National Archives and a permanent Data Governance Panel in the Ministry of Justice.

A five-year strategy review is currently underway at the Foundation. The Foundation’s work on the importance of learning and evidence in the justice system will be reviewed and developed further as part this review.
